What he teaches
- Waltz
- Foxtrot
- Tango
- Viennese Waltz
- Rumba
- Cha-cha
- Salsa (LA style)
- Bachata
- Bollywood
Ballroom came first — waltz, foxtrot, tango, Viennese waltz, rumba and cha-cha — then LA-style salsa, bachata and Bollywood. That range is why a first dance can be a slow waltz, a bachata, or something in between.
Rhythms & Romance
For five years in Los Angeles, Avissh ran Rhythms & Romance, his Valentine’s event: a 1.5-hour beginner salsa and bachata lesson with wine and chocolate. It sold out every year.
Who he’s taught
Hundreds of students — couples before their weddings, total beginners, and dancers who wanted more. In Los Angeles he has taught film and TV industry clients, including directors and writers from major productions.
How I teach first dances
I start with your song, not with steps. Before we meet I listen to it until I know where it breathes and where it builds — where a turn or a dip would land on its own — and I build the choreography around those moments.
Then I teach the two people in front of me. Most couples I work with have never taken a lesson, so I keep it small: a basic you can do without counting, a few moves that look good from every side of the room, and an entrance and an ending you can hit even when nerves kick in. If one of you would rather lead, or you want to switch, we build it that way.
And I’d rather teach on the floor you’ll actually dance on. That’s why I come to your venue or suite. We rehearse in the space, film a practice video on your phone, and you leave knowing what to do when the music starts.
